Let's recycle and upcycle right, together with BayGreen! Contamination can occur if we do not practice proper recycling habits. Your recyclable and upcycable items may eventually be diverted to the incineration plants, if not deposited via the proper channel, and can do more harm than good to the environment.

From now till March 2022, drop your recyclables off at the "Join The Loop" exhibition at the By The Bay Community Space at Marina Bay Link Mall (MBLM, B2-10 - beside Infinity Cafe), where you can also learn more about the effects of over-consumption and ways to lower pollution rates by adopting a circular economy. Recycle your Red Packets & Paper Carrier Bags
Have an eco-friendly & auspicious Lunar New Year! From 3 - 18 February 2022, recycle used or excess red packets/paper carrier bags. Drop them off at any of our concierge counters at Marina Bay Financial Centre / One Raffles Quay / Marina Bay Link Mall to be sent to responsible recyclers.
Recycle Your Contact Lens Blisters: (Separately)
Did you know that only 4% of plastics in Singapore is recycled?* The rest ends up in landfills or incineration plants. Let's do better: In collaboration with Two of a Kind, collect your used contact lens blisters and send them to Project 2x2 for recycling.
Launched in October 2019, Project 2x2 (pronounced "two by two") is Singapore's first contact lens blister recycling program by Two of a Kind. Project 2x2 collects ANY and ALL contact lens plastic blisters for recycling.
Two of a Kind is Singapore's first and only homegrown independent and direct-to-consumer contact lens brand. Just like you, it wants to make sure that the plastic it collects, sorts and processes is done responsibly. What you usually dispose of after single-use is processed into feedstock material that finds its way back into new and repurposed applications and products. This contributes to a more circular, less wasteful and less pollutive plastics system.
Why contribute to Project 2x2 instead of just recycling in the blue bin?
Every year Singaporeans throw away 1 million tonnes of plastic. Let's be real: It's really hard to separate small disposables from the plastic trash we generate. That's why our recycling rate is low. Plastics need to be sorted, cleaned and homogenous to be ready for recycling. The system also filters out any items smaller than 6 cm to be sent directly for incineration. When you contribute to Project 2x2, you're truly making a difference by helping solve issues at its source.
How does it work?
- Drop off loose blisters into the collection box at the By The Bay Community Space @ MBLM
- OR sign up here to receive an envelope (mailed to you FOC!) or pick them up from the Concierge counter at Marina Bay Financial Centre/One Raffles Quay/Marina Bay Link Mall. Better yet, use an upcycled envelope to collect your used blisters (foils removed) over time.
- Next, mail your recycling envelopes to 39B North Canal Road, Singapore 059295. Alternatively, drop them off at the Concierge counter at Marina Bay Financial Centre/One Raffles Quay/Marina Bay Link Mall!
- The plastic blisters are sorted, processed into a pellet form, and re-used for new product applications such as clothing fibres, industrial fibres, food containers, etc.

Recycle Your E-Waste
Did you know that unwanted e-waste can pose health and environmental hazards if not disposed properly?
Around 60,000 tonnes of electronic and electrical waste (e-waste) are thrown out from homes and companies each year. This is equivalent to about 70 mobile phones being discarded by each person a year in Singapore.
In collaboration with Alba, to support Singapore's first nationwide initiative to better manage the growing amount of e-waste, Alba's 3-in-1 e-waste recycling bins are now placed in various locations within the By The Bay portfolio.

- Computers
- Laptops
- Mobile phones
- Tablets
- Network equipment

Give Your Used Shoes a New Purpose
By The Bay has collaborated with Soles4Souls, a social enterprise that turns unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunities by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use. To date, By The Bay has collected 119 pairs of shoes and is heartened to know that they translate to providing one month of food, shelter and education for two families or two months of food, shelter and education for one family, as beneficiaries of Soles4Souls.
Join us in this portfolio effort to donate your shoes and change someone's life.
Why donate?
- Provide relief: New shoes are collected and distributed to the less fortunate globally.
- Fight poverty: Donated shoes are also sold, with the funds used to help beneficiaries launch and sustain small businesses.
- Protect the environment by putting used goods to good use, instead of wasting away in a landfill

Swap, Not Shop - Take Part in a Fashion Swap!
Swap MORE and buy LESS! What better way to step into the New Year than to be fashionably sustainable?
It is the sustainable way to enjoy fashion without overconsumption of natural resources and waste. So, declutter and refresh your wardrobe without hurting your wallet or the planet.
By The Bay has partnered with The Fashion Pulpit to bring you an exciting programme of fashion swapping in February and March 2022. Here's how it works:
- Register for the event on the By The Bay app, Green tile. [By The Bay Tenants Exclusive]
- Drop Off dates : Prepare to physically drop off your fashion items that you would like to swap on 22 or 24 February 2022 at the Join the Loop exhibit at MBLM (11:30 am to 2:30 pm). Bring up to 8 items and earn points that you can use on the actual day of the swap.
- Register with The Fashion Pulpit and receive an email to notify you of your points earned (based on the quality, style, brand and swapability of each item)
- Swap Dates : Points can be used on any of the swapped items organised by The Fashion Pulpit on 8 or 10 March at MBLM B2-24 (11:30 am to 2:30 pm)
- Wear your newly swapped items with pride!
Details matter
All items that you drop off must be in fab and great condition - clean and wearable, no stained, torn, faded, ripped, missing buttons, damaged, and broken zippers.
Sorry, we do not accept
Personal items such as undergarments, swimwear, sportswear, earrings (unless they are brand new with tags), sleepwear, socks, costumes, and organisational items with company logo.
Register now to welcome the new year sustainably. If you prefer to directly donate your clothes, you can drop them off at the clothes donation bin at the By The Bay Community Space @ MBLM.
Donate Excess Food
Do you have more than what you need in your pantry? How about channeling some of these excess items as food donations?
You can drop off unopened, unexpired dry/packaged food items with at least 4 weeks to expiry date into the food donation bin at the By The Bay Community Space @ MBLM.
Recycle Your Paper (for Corporate Tenants)
Singapore's overall recycling rate fell to a 10-year low of 52% in 2020, down from 59% in 2019.
Most alarmingly, the most significant drop in recycling rate was for paper and cardboard, which declined from 44% in 2019 to 38% last year.
With our one and only landfill site - Semakau - expected to be completely filled in less than 15 years based on our current waste generation rate, we must think out of the (recycling) box for more ways to speed up our recycling rates while reducing our carbon footprint.
For tenants at By The Bay, we encourage you to recycle paper at our Eco Smart Paper Recycling Machines, placed across the portfolio.
By signing up as a corporate exercise, tenants will receive a unique QR and account code to log in to their account, track contributions, and be rewarded for recycling efforts.
