In an era where environmental responsibility and social impact are paramount, SaladStop! has emerged as a trailblazer in the food and beverage industry. Their recent certification as a B Corporation marks a significant milestone in their commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. This achievement is the result of a rigorous certification process conducted by B Lab, which scrutinised the company's entire social and environmental impact across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
SaladStop! has implemented groundbreaking initiatives that showcase their commitment to environmental stewardship. As the first restaurant business in Asia to carbon label their entire menu, SaladStop! empowers customers to make informed choices about the environmental impact of their meals. They've also opened Southeast Asia's second Net Zero F&B outlet in Marina Bay Link Mall (MBLM, #B2-13), setting a new industry standard. As part of their commitment to reduce single-use packaging waste, SaladStop! introduced a 'Bring Your Own Container' (BYOC) initiative at their two net-zero outlets. Customers have to bring their own containers when visiting these locations. For customers who do not bring their own containers on the day, SaladStop! is offering two options to encourage their participation in the initiative. One is the possibility to ‘borrow’ a reusable Muuse container instore for free. Muuse is an app which allows customers to loan and return reusable containers at participating F&B outlets. The other is to buy a SaladStop! collapsible container and receive one of its Signature salads for free.. Since September 2023, SaladStop! has seen a 60% increase in their customer adoption rate for the BYOC initiative, demonstrating the growing success of their sustainability efforts.
Leveraging technology for sustainability is a key aspect of SaladStop!'s strategy. Both SaladStop! and its sister brand Heybo utilises a digital loyalty programme that rewards and incentivises customers. Through their carbon-labelled menu, SaladStop! educates customers about the environmental impact of their food choices in real time. Their ‘Make Your Mark’ campaign—in collaboration with DBS and EcoMatcher—allows customers to plant trees and track their growth, providing a tangible connection to sustainability efforts.
SaladStop! demonstrates a comprehensive approach to sustainability, encompassing their operations, community engagement, and supply chain. They raise awareness by providing carbon footprint information and encouraging eco-conscious choices. The company promotes sustainable practices among suppliers, including local partners like Kin Yan farm, and involves customers in their sustainability journey through various programs. Their B Corp certification underscores their commitment to responsible sourcing and tackling issues such as packaging waste.
As SaladStop! continues to innovate and lead by example, they're not just serving healthy meals – they're nourishing a more sustainable future. Their journey as a B Corp Certified brand demonstrates that with creativity, commitment, and the right use of technology, businesses can thrive while making a positive impact on the world. As consumers, we have the power to support these efforts and contribute to a more sustainable food ecosystem with every meal we choose. In line with Singapore’s 2030 Green Plan goals, SaladStop!'s holistic approach to sustainability sets a new benchmark for the industry and paves the way for a more responsible and environmentally conscious future in the world of dining.
Calling all eco-conscious tenants to join the plastic-free movement on BYOC Friday by ditching disposable cups and containers, and supporting our partner SaladStop!'s mission with a delicious and sustainable meal from their plastic-free menu.
